A RARE Collectible Item :: 1988 Adobe Promotional Playing Card Deck
These Cards mark the start of Desktop Publishing in America. They were a promotional item at the 1988 Seybold Trade Show in Las Vegas and as a publishing production editor, that is where I got them.
Adobe had just developed Postscript software and the cards highlighted the design capabilities of this new technology which brought sophisticated design possibilities to the desktop computer using Adobe Illustrator. The cards, an advertising promotion, showed off the design range of Illustrator and Postscript software.
Adobe's software essentially started the desktop publishing revolution. The thought that you could produce designs like shown on the cards using your desktop computer and Adobe Illustrator set the industry on fire.
The cards measure 3.5" x 2.5"
Four separate and distinct "suits" and two jokers comprise the full deck.
Designers: Russell Brown, Paul Woods, Gail Blumberg, Joss Bratt-Parsey and Ruth Kadar.
Excellent condition: the deck is opened but has never been used.
